The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (KSBB) is dedicated to supporting its members and partners across academia and industry.
KSBB was established in 1984 as a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the biotechnology community in Korea. KSBB serves as a premier platform for exchanging scientific achievements and facilitating collaborative research among its individual and institutional members. In response to the rapid growth in the field, KSBB has significantly expanded in scope and function, becoming one of the most respected societies in Korea, with over 10,000 active members, ten subdivisions, and ten regional branches.
KSBB provides its members with esteemed forums for sharing cutting-edge research, innovative ideas, and engaging in discussions on the societal responsibilities of biotechnology to foster a sustainable bio-based economy.
In addition to biannual national meetings and international symposiums, KSBB hosts a variety of domestic and international events focusing on trending and relevant topics. KSBB publishes two scientific journals, Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering (BBE) and the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering Journal (KSBB Journal). KSBB also publishes the BT News series to communicate advancements in biotechnology to the general public.
Leveraging its established status in Korea, KSBB aims to become a valuable partner for international collaborations to accelerate global advancements in biotechnology. For example, KSBB has built and maintains strong relationships with the Society for Biotechnology, Japan (SBJ) and the Bioengineering Society of Taiwan (BEST) and is open to collaboration with leading societies in other regions and countries.
